Favorite Early Childhood Books

One book I love is The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper. The reason I love this book is because it teaches children that nothing comes easy in life and that hard work pays off in the end. In addition, it teaches children to focus on that challenging moment and be optimistic in accomplishing it.

Another book I love is the classic Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss. A simple meaning behind this book is simple to “don’t judge a book by it’s cover”. You can not make up your mind about something, whether it is a book, food, or anything until you have tried to attempt it.

Hope to see your favorite stories as well 🙂

Welcome!

My name is Antonietta and I am 27 years old. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and live with my parents and my older brother. In May, I got engaged to my wonderful boyfriend, who I have been with since high school and I am excited to plan for our future!

I graduated in 2014 with a bachelors degree in Science, Letters and Society. It took me 6 years to complete my undergraduate program due to moving between two colleges. I was denied into Hunter College, so I went to College of Staten Island (CSI). I transferred into Hunter, and was denied by the Education program twice because my gpa was below a 3.00 by .02 (I had a 2.98). After being highly discouraged I transferred back to CSI. From there, I thought I would try to stick it out a little further to just complete my bachelors in liberal arts.

After graduating, I received a job offer to become an assistant teacher for a Catholic school in Brooklyn. I was very excited yet nervous. I had experience working with children, so what was there to be nervous about? Over time, I gained much knowledge from my co-workers, whom I consider my second family. Thanks to them and their constant persuasion, I became lead teacher in November 2016. It became a little overwhelming but with the support and encouragement of my co-workers, I can say I completed my almost first year of being a teacher (minus two months).

This experience lead me to go back to school and gain my Masters in Early Childhood Education. I want to grow and improve myself as an educator for my students and encourage them to be the best they can be! Nothing is better than getting hugs, seeing smiles, hearing jokes and laughter, and looking into a child’s eyes and seeing their desire to learn. You would be surprised how much they listen, even when you think they aren’t.
